NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ migrant plea: Letters to the Editor

The Issue: Mayor Adams’ appeal to FEMA to stop other states from busing migrants to New York.

As a crisis of epic proportions falls on New York City (which will only get worse with the ending of the Title 42 COVID policy), Homeland Security boss Alejandro Mayorkas orders his agency to allow thousands of additional migrants into our country legally, many of whom will end up here in New York (“Stop the buses!” April 28).

Meanwhile, President Biden fails to acknowledge the problem and is nowhere to be found as he records and broadcasts his “I will run again” video from his basement.

How Democrats can continue to support this incompetent president is incomprehensible.

Have any New York state residents wondered where Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have been while New York City has been overrun with migrants? They are missing in action.

New York residents are footing the bill for these people, while our senators stand by and do nothing about open borders. Let the do-nothing president and senators know how you feel.

Any person who supports sanctuary cities and states should be held responsible for at least one illegal immigrant.

It should be a requirement for those supporting this unlawful activity to take into their homes or provide shelter and assistance for at least one. I bet you would find that there aren’t many who would admit they were in favor of this policy.

Enough is enough. Stop the hemorrhaging at our borders and start taking care of the legitimate citizens who are in need of help. God bless America.

When Mayor Adams bragged about New York being a sanctuary city and helping migrants off the buses, he was not playing with a full deck.

A child of 10 could have guessed what would happen — chaos and demoralization. Our “leaders” are so utterly pathetic.

While Mayor Adams has a legitimate gripe about the number of migrants coming to New York City, he needs to look in the mirror for the condition of the city, and it’s not the migrants to blame.

On a walk from Chelsea to the theater district and back, almost every block reeks of marijuana. If you can’t drink on the street, why can you smoke weed on the street? There are homeless all around talking and cursing (clearly mentally ill) to themselves.

What was the most concerning is that I saw only saw one police car and zero police on the street on my walk.

Where are the 35,000 officers who are supposed to protect innocent residents and visitors? Nowhere that I could see. They used to be visible everywhere.

I was born and bred in Brooklyn 73 years ago, and have never been afraid or disgusted to be a New Yorker.

Maybe the hard-working migrants that he’s complaining about, looking for a better life, can help clean up this mess. Because Adams isn’t doing it.

I read with mixed emotions all the complaints about crime, local district attorneys, lack of enforcing of laws, illegal migrant issues, etc, etc.

The people of New York, specifically of New York City, had the opportunity to change that course and didn’t.

Rep. Lee Zeldin campaigned for governor on those changes but was defeated. It’s hard to sympathize with you New Yorkers.

Adams is now stating that the immigrant crisis is killing New York City.

He is blaming the federal government for the destruction and begging FEMA to stop the inflow.

If we recall correctly, when the immigrants first started coming to New York City by the busload, the mayor was welcoming them with open arms, saying: “Keep on coming — all are welcome.”

Adams, I hate to tell you this, but you are in over your head. Do your job and stop the influx.
