NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban Steps Down: Correspondence Revealed
The Problem: Police Commissioner Edward Caban resigns amid federal investigations into City Hall.
Mayor Adams’ administration seems to have some issues (“Out on his brass,” Sept. 13).
Following a federal investigation focused on Police Commissioner Edward Caban and his brother, also a former police officer, Caban decided to resign.
It appears that there are questionable backgrounds among many high-ranking officials in Adams’ administration.
Perhaps Caban chose to step down before things escalate further. The city is facing challenges.
Incoming interim Police Commissioner Tom Donlon must thoroughly clean up the system.
New York City taxpayers also need to make a change in the upcoming election.

Now, federal authorities are interested in all evidence related to influence-peddling in nightclubs, involving our former commissioner and his brother.
Ultimately, Mayor Adams should be held accountable.
After all, he appointed these individuals.

Adams’ Cabinet reminds me of the era when Boss Tweed plundered New York City’s finances.
It is time for middle-class New York taxpayers to consider removing Adams, who is under investigation for various issues, including campaign finance violations related to the Turkish government.

The Problem: Taylor Swift endorses Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.
I fail to comprehend why people would base their vote on an endorsement from a movie star, a singer, or a professional athlete (“Cat’s out of bag — Tay for Harris,” Sept. 11).
When was the last time Taylor Swift, George Clooney, or any other celebrity had to do regular, everyday tasks like going to the supermarket, filling up their car with gas, or paying utility bills?
They are wealthy individuals for whom the rising costs of essential items do not have an impact.
They are indifferent to the expenses and will never have to worry about them.

It does not address issues like the high cost of living, crime rates, border security, or foreign relations.
Smart voters, not Swift, know that Harris may not be the best choice for the country.
