On LA Fires: Democratic Incompetence Reaches the Highest Levels, Including Joe Biden (Hardly a Surprise)

The fires in LA reveal that Democratic mismanagement extends all the way to the White House — and California Governor Gavin Newsom continues to struggle in the “flailing and failing” category.

Newsom faced criticism earlier this week for deflecting blame regarding the water management crisis that has exacerbated the devastating fires, attributing the problem of dry hydrants hindering firefighters to “local folks.”

Moreover, Newsom was caught on video responding awkwardly when a Pacific Palisades resident asked him how he planned to address the aftermath of her daughter’s school burning down.

With his phone in hand, Newsom claimed he was “literally” on a call with President Biden right at that moment but when the resident asked him to verify it, he conceded he had no reception.

When pressed further, Newsom complained, “I’m doing everything I can. I will do whatever I can.”

“But you’re not!” the resident retorted.

She’s absolutely right — and Californians are well aware of it.

Even if Newsom had managed to reach Biden on his phone without reception, Joe is just as clueless as Gavin. (Not a surprise, we know.)

During an utterly disastrous press conference, Biden managed to tell both VP Kamala Harris and Forest Service head Randy Moore to “fire away” not once, but twice! (He even added “no pun intended” in a rather weak attempt.)

He also shifted blame for the water crisis to . . . power companies turning off transmission lines.

This assertion was quickly refuted by both the utility company responsible for the area currently ablaze in LA and the city’s own public works department.

(It’s worth noting that the LA public works team may be just as eager for a scapegoat as the president, but arguably less out of touch.)

Biden’s attempts to deflect blame are even more egregious than Newsom’s: he is, after all, the President of the United States!

The fact that he is also engaged in damage-control PR for fellow Democrats while America’s second-largest city is engulfed in flames is truly disgraceful.

Moreover, this incident further underscores, though none was needed, that Democrats at every level — city, state, and national — are incapable of taking responsibility for their own catastrophic failures.
