P’Nut the squirrel killing: New York proves even cute critters aren’t safe
P’Nut the Squirrel, a viral star, was recently put down by New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation.
Surprisingly, the squirrel had influential friends. According to JD Vance, Trump was upset about the killing and referred to the squirrel as “the Elon Musk of squirrels.”
It’s comforting that Trump stood up for the small creature, despite it being only a foot tall, covered in fur, and having a bushy tail.
Mark and Daniela Longo, a couple from upstate, rescued P’Nut as a baby squirrel after his mother’s death. When he didn’t want to return to the wild, they took care of him on their 350-acre property near Elmira.
P’Nut’s video antics brought him fame, which the Longos used to promote their OnlyFans page with the help of others.
After someone reported rabies fears, the DEC sent 10 agents to confiscate and euthanize P’Nut, causing outrage.
Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz is proposing a law that would require a three-day waiting period before such euthanizations can occur.
It’s essential for the Adorable Squirrel Protection Act to be signed into law promptly.
Despite not knowing P’Nut, his fans continue to mourn his loss.
It’s evident that everything is chaotic in New York, and even innocent woodland creatures are not safe.
