Post-Election, Team Biden Reacts Strongly to False Claims of Famine in Gaza
The Biden administration is condemning a report that warns of famine in northern Gaza.
An election can certainly change perspectives.
A report released on Monday by the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (a U.S.-supported independent organization) stated that 65,000 to 75,000 individuals do not have sufficient food supplies.
According to FEWS Net, “Israel’s near-total blockade of humanitarian and commercial food supplies” has resulted in mass starvation in northern Gaza, offering fresh ammunition for those who oppose Israel to make extreme allegations of “genocide.”
However, there has never been a “near-total blockade.”
Additionally, both Israeli and UN estimates suggest that there are not 65,000 people in northern Gaza (much less starving) but rather fewer than 15,000.
A spokesman from the U.S. Agency for International Development highlighted that the FEWS NET alert “relies on outdated population estimates and has methodological limitations due to data availability.”
“Given the current climate of misinformation leading to confusion and accusations, it is reckless to release such a report,” Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew expressed indignation.
This isn’t the first instance: A previous FEWS Net report this year similarly raised alarms about famine, based on numbers that were also disproven.
Yet, the Biden-Harris administration, eyeing pro-Hamas voters, continued to criticize Israel’s “excessive” response to Hamas’ aggression.
Indeed, in a last-minute effort to secure the anti-Israel vote before the election, Team Biden threatened to suspend additional arms shipments to Israel unless the IDF allowed more aid in.
Such threats only serve to embolden groups like Hamas, Iran, and Israel’s other adversaries.
Palestinians in conflict zones will understandably struggle to obtain food, particularly since Hamas frequently diverts aid shipments, and relief organizations are hesitant to assign drivers due to fears of assault or robbery by terrorists or criminals, as reported.
However, the solution is not to criticize Israel and push for an end to its efforts in dismantling Hamas, as both President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have done throughout the year.
The solution is to assist Israel in swiftly dealing with the terrorists.
If Team Biden had consistently challenged the false narratives of famine and “genocide” from the outset and wholeheartedly supported Israel’s protective measures, the conflict might have concluded by now.
On a positive note, a new administration will be in place next month, and Washington will cease trying to appease Israel’s adversaries, including their propaganda affiliates.
