Rabbi urges Jewish Columbia students to stay away from campus: Letter
The Issue: Columbia Rabbi Elie Buechler’s advisory for Jewish students to leave campus for safety reasons.
Described by The Post as a “prominent rabbi” at Columbia University, Rabbi Elie Buechler has given advice to Jewish students to depart campus, go home, and work remotely. This advice implies yielding to anti-Semitic sentiments and relinquishing control of the campus they have invested in.
Despite loud and hostile protesters, they should not be allowed to dictate the narrative. As a spiritual leader, this advice sends the wrong signal.

Did the protesting individuals not interact with students of different backgrounds and assist each other academically or socially? They should have considered this before crossing a line. What causes such hatred towards innocent students?

I wonder if the protesting students at Columbia (and other universities where similar incidents occur) pay as much for their education as non-protesting students focused on studying.

Under the guise of anti-Israel sentiments, today’s youth are intimidating Jews. Rather than the traditional Passover Seder questions, a new question arises: Are we condemned to repeat history?
The decline of the America I once knew is evident in a deteriorating culture. The only remaining answer: In God we trust.

Columbia University’s insensitivity towards its Jewish students is appalling.
Given the prestigious Jewish alumni associated with the school, their passive acceptance of threatening behavior hints at institutionalized anti-Semitism.
I urge the federal government to halt all financial assistance to Columbia until this issue is addressed.

I am relieved that Shai Davidai was prevented from inciting hatred on Columbia’s campus.
However, similar ideologies persist within the establishment, resulting in unfair evictions of students from Columbia’s dorms and subsequent arrests of protesters by the NYPD. The attempt to vilify the protesters is encouraged by certain politicians and media outlets supportive of Israel.
The American public sees through the propaganda, realizing that these protests advocate for Palestinian rights, and labeling them as anti-Semitic is unjust and baseless.

The head rabbi at Columbia University advised Jewish students to stay away from campus due to safety concerns.
Before these protests escalate to physical violence, law enforcement and university officials must restore peace and ensure non-violent demonstrations, or they will be complicit in any resulting harm.

These protesters aim to dismantle Israel and, consequently, harm Jews.
Taking a proactive stance against potential disruptive demonstrations during upcoming graduations is a wise decision. Administrators should utilize law enforcement and suspensions to address protesting students’ violent behavior.
