Rampage of Stabbings in New York City, Letters
The Concern: Rep. Ritchie Torres Criticizes City and State Leadership Amid Surge of Stabbings.
At last, a Democrat with common sense has called out the governor and mayor (“Blood on your hands,” Nov. 25).
Representative Ritchie Torres from the Bronx speaks passionately, while Mayor Adams and Governor Hochul speak with conflicting messages.
Adams uses the City Council as an excuse for his lack of action.
He should follow Torres’ lead and challenge Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, who opposes changes to the city’s sanctuary policies. Instead, he refers to Adams as his “sister.”
It seems a run for governor is on the horizon.
Torres has my support.

What kind of society allows a mentally unstable individual to freely commit violent acts in New York City?
Although extreme, this incident is not isolated.
Once again, we observe the neglect of mental health in society.
This is a national issue that will not disappear quickly.
Unfortunately, this is a topic many elected officials are hesitant to address or resolve.
For some individuals, outpatient treatment, even if consented to, is not sufficient.
There is a portion of the population that requires admission to inpatient facilities.
The main issue is that many of these facilities have closed.

We are often told that these attackers are mentally disturbed.
However, Ramon Rivera confessed to targeting victims who were alone and distracted.
This behavior is evil, not crazy.
Labeling these criminals as mentally disturbed elicits undeserved sympathy.
We have the right to be angry and demand the incarceration or even execution of these individuals.
Let’s stop with the excuses. Prioritize the safety of citizens and remove these criminals from the streets and into prison.

I am heartbroken to learn that the third victim of the stabbing spree in Manhattan left behind an 8-year-old son (“Must lock them up!” Nov. 20).
According to reports, she was a single mother.
The Post should provide an update on this tragic incident.
I am concerned about the safety of the boy.
Is there a way to offer assistance to him?

It is refreshing to see a Democrat like Torres speak out against the challenges faced by New Yorkers due to the actions of his colleagues.
However, law-abiding citizens in New York continue to face insults and offenses from elected officials.
How many more politicians like Gov. Hochul, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg will the city and state tolerate?
How many more crimes such as stabbings, shootings, assaults, and murders must occur before real change happens?
There have been numerous violent incidents, crimes in every neighborhood, and little accountability for the criminals, thanks to the leftist politicians and their policies.
These officials should feel nothing but shame.

Lifetime parole and the Parole Board are a disaster (“Judge dreadful,” Nov. 22).
Gary Worthy, a career criminal with 17 prior arrests, including manslaughter, was granted parole and released.
Despite multiple crimes committed while on lifetime parole, he was never sent back to prison.
He was killed while resisting arrest, injuring a brave NYPD officer in the process.
The Parole Board should be abolished to prevent such dangerous decisions that put innocent citizens at risk.
