Randy Mastro: An Excellent Option for Eric Adams’ City Hall Revitalization
It’s a positive indication that Mayor Eric Adams is reportedly considering bringing on Randy Mastro to fill the vacancy of one of the four deputy mayors resigning during the latest wave of leftist outrage.
The uproar stems from the Justice Department’s decision to drop the federal corruption case against him; it’s strange to see individuals resigning over this when they were willing to support him as he approached trial. Additionally, it’s quite concerning that this has prompted Gov. Kathy Hochul aiming to limit the mayor’s powers.
Hiring Mastro would serve as a strong counter to the extreme left’s demands, as he is already a controversial figure for these individuals, who successfully hindered Adams’ recent attempt to appoint him as corporation counsel.
With extensive experience from the Giuliani administration, Mastro is exceptionally well-qualified.
In addition, for other solid candidates, Adams could consider his own team: senior advisors Rory Whelan, Diane Savino, and Nate Bliss possess decades of both governmental and private-sector expertise—none of whom can be labeled as “Adams cronies.”
The mayor requires appointments and promotions that convey stability and allow him to concentrate on governance.
Choosing individuals like Mastro may provoke a strong reaction from his detractors, but it will enable him to proceed with the essential task of revitalizing the city.
