The Issue: The recent 4.8 magnitude earthquake that hit New York and New Jersey.
Some say an earthquake is nature’s way of dancing, which is why last week’s quake left this New Yorker wanting more (“On shaky ground,” April 7).
As my office building swayed like a tipsy patron ordering another drink, I found the experience too short-lived.
Did our mild tremor have the flair of a California earthquake?
Possibly not.
But what it had was a certain grace. It was like a bullfight, where the matador and bull embrace at the end.

In light of the recent earthquake, heavy rainfall, and flooding in March, as well as a solar eclipse on Monday, one can’t help but wonder if the Rapture is approaching.

From recent events like the earthquake on the Jersey shore, a bridge collapse in Baltimore, ISIS attacks, and relief workers in Gaza in distress, one can’t help but think of Billy Joel’s song “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

The Issue: A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 losing its engine cover shortly after takeoff from Denver.
Why does every incident involving a Boeing airplane ultimately end up blamed on Boeing (“Things go Boeing on another 737,” April 8)?
These planes are managed and maintained by airlines, constantly in operation, and many are a decade or more old.
If something malfunctions or falls off, it’s likely the airline’s responsibility, not Boeing’s.
The mainstream media appears to be unfairly vilifying a major US aerospace manufacturer to benefit Airbus and other competitors.

I predict that when the truth about the decline in quality at Boeing surfaces, the blame will likely fall on DEI.
It may become evident that hiring and promotion decisions were based on vague woke factors rather than merit or excellence.
