Rep. Ritchie Torres accurately condemns Democrats for enabling Hamas
Rep. Ritchie Torres is absolutely right about Hamas’ Tuesday rejection of a yet another ceasefire offer: “The hyperbolic and hysterical demonization of Israel — from fair-weather friends — makes Hamas feel emboldened to continue rejecting ceasefires and continue holding the hostages captive,” the Bronx Democrat posted on X.
The terrorist thugs could have ended this war the week it began by sending the captives home. But Hamas does not care about the lives of its own people.
That the group still feels comfortable holding hostages even as its leaders reject deal after deal after deal is a testament to the very dynamic Torres outlines.
It also gives the lie, completely, to the squeals and screeches from the pro-Hamas caucus in Torres’ own Democratic Party.
If Reps. Jamaal Bowman, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and every other pro-terror Dem really wanted Israel’s humane and justified war against Hamas to end, they would’ve been demanding ceaselessly and at the top of their lungs that Yahya Sinwar and his masters in Doha (and their masters in Tehran) release the hostages with zero preconditions from Day One.
They don’t, of course, want the war to end. What they crave is the destruction of the state of Israel.
But it’s the fact that the White House itself has aligned with this fringe element that truly explains why Hamas thinks it can win a permanent cease-fire, and so survive Israel’s current drive to eliminate it — and rebuild to again slaughter innocents in its long-term bid to destroy the Jewish state.
Families of American hostages have rightly called the Biden administration out over its seeming refusal to apply meaningful pressure to Hamas to release these innocents.
As Maurice Shnaider, the uncle of Shiri Bibas (taken with her two young children, both now reportedly dead) thundered to Biden over the weekend: “Do something, or else.”
Biden’s latest response — could there be a graver and more calculated insult, or a viler one? — is to send out comically inept Vice President Kamala Harris to meet privately with the families of American hostages.
Joe himself met with some of these families in the early days of the war, before Israel’s fight for its life became politically inconvenient for him.
Now?
Thanks to the deranged antisemites who guide policy for his party and a media that plays lapdog to bloody-handed mass-rapists and baby-beheaders, Joe feels 100% comfortable slapping the families of Americans in the face.
Even as he and his White House enablers desperately sue for a dishonorable peace with the terrorists.
Biden’s commitment to aiding our enemies at home and abroad has never been clearer — or uglier. Bravo for Torres and his crystal-clear vision.
