Reporters Acknowledge Politico Buried Hunter Biden Laptop Story to Shield Joe Biden in 2020

To dispel any lingering skepticism, two former Politico reporters recently affirmed the lengths to which the media went to shield Joe Biden in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election.

This serves as solid evidence that these outlets cannot be relied upon.

In a recent podcast, Axios’ Mark Caputo and Puck’s Tara Palmeri disclosed that Politico purposefully suppressed or resisted negative reports regarding Biden and his son — highlighting, for example, its minimal coverage of The Post’s last-minute revelation about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

“Politico crafted that dreadful, misguided headline: 51 intelligence agents, or former intelligence agents, assert that the Hunter Biden laptop was disinformation,” Caputo recounted.

“It turns out that this assertion was closer to disinformation itself, as the Hunter Biden laptop appeared to be legitimate.”

Caputo shared that he urged his editor to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story, but was directed, as per “higher-ups” at Politico, to refrain: “Don’t write about the laptop. Don’t discuss the laptop. Don’t tweet about the laptop,” he recounted.

Thus, “the only content Politico ended up publishing was that piece labeling it as disinformation.”

Caputo also referenced his 2019 reporting about a tax lien related to Hunter’s Burisma earnings.

“That article was suppressed by the editors without any explanation.”

Politico certainly was not the only outlet engaging in such practices.

Moreover, dismiss the media’s rationale that they required complete facts before releasing information, or that they were cautious due to Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

The Post successfully verified the details — which ultimately were all accurate.

Most media outlets have since acknowledged this, though they waited until Joe Biden had taken office to do so.

The 51 Spies Who Lied — former intelligence officials who signed an open letter denouncing The Post’s laptop scoop as a “Russian information operation” — provided cover for the media.

This letter was instigated by the Biden campaign (notably, Antony Blinken) with a clear intent to sway the election.

This is why former CIA chief John Brennan’s complaints regarding President Trump revoking his and the other spies’ security clearances appear so feeble.

Brennan laments that their statement merely indicates that the laptop story “was one of the hallmarks of Russian information operations.”

Come on.

If these intelligence veterans had any doubts about Russia’s role, and weren’t attempting to mislead the public, they could have consulted with their contacts at the FBI, who had already confirmed the laptop’s authenticity.

Or they could have simply chosen to remain silent.

Brennan and his colleagues were completely aware of their actions.

Thus, Trump was absolutely correct to revoke their security clearances.

It’s clear they are untrustworthy.

The reality is that neither the media nor these spies have been forthright with the American public.

Trump’s success, in spite of their efforts to undermine him, indicates that the American people are aware of this.
