Secret Service chief Kim Cheatle must be immediately dismissed and terminated

It is imperative that Kim Cheatle resign or be terminated.

The near-assassination of former President Donald Trump marks the Secret Service’s most significant failure in decades.

This sentiment is echoed by her superior, Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“When I say that something like this cannot happen, we are speaking of a failure,” he stated on CNN; on ABC, it was: “A direct line of sight like that to the former president should not occur.”

The complete security breakdown at Trump’s Butler, Pa., rally, which nearly claimed the life of the former president, resulted in the death of Corey Comperatore and critical injuries to two other civilians. This failure falls squarely on her shoulders, regardless of any scapegoats her subordinates may offer.

Regrettably, she has thus far refused to take responsibility, with the Secret Service instead blaming local police for neglecting to secure the critical rooftop.

As if officers in rural Pennsylvania are expected to step up when the professionals responsible for protecting an ex-president fail to do their jobs.

She does not need to remain in her position to testify before Congress next week regarding the events of Saturday.

She is not the only one facing scrutiny; sources have indicated that she secured the directorship primarily due to her close relationship with First Lady Jill Biden after serving on the Bidens’ security detail during Joe Biden’s vice presidency.

Alternatively, perhaps the blame lies with Anthony “Rasputin” Bernal, who reportedly pushed for her appointment as the first female Secret Service chief.

Under her leadership, the agency prioritized diversity, aiming to have 30% female representation by 2030 – a focus that detracted from their primary responsibility of protecting the principals.

Apologies: protecting the principals must be the Service’s sole concern.

Under Cheatle’s tenure, this mission was botched, and only luck prevented a crisis-inducing assassination. She should have been removed already.
