Study finds decrease in weather disasters despite global warming

A recent scientific study confirms that natural and climate-related disasters have been decreasing rather than increasing in the 21st century.

In a paper published this year in a top environmental hazards journal, Italian scientists Gianluca Alimonti and Luigi Mariani analyzed natural disaster trends since 1900.

Based on the data, they found a decreasing trend of natural disasters up to 2022, with a significant decline in events.

These findings contradict earlier analyses by UN bodies predicting an increase in disasters and impacts due to global warming.

For years, international agencies have claimed climate-related disasters are escalating, attributing it to global warming.

However, data from the past 20 years shows a significant decline in such events.

Climate alarmists have based their claims on a flawed comparison of disaster data from the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

They fail to consider the increase in global disaster reporting due to new communication technologies since the 1980s.

The number of natural disaster-related deaths has decreased over the past 120 years, with losses as a percentage of global GDP also declining.

This study aligns with what the Global Warming Policy Foundation has been highlighting: Climate-related disasters are not increasing despite warming temperatures.

It’s time for the truth about climate disasters to prevail over misinformation spread by international agencies and NGOs.
