Thank Judge Noreika for stopping DOJ from pulling a fast one
Judge Maryellen Noreika caught the Biden Department of Justice red-handed: It’s been lying through its teeth about probing the first son further.
At Hunter Biden’s sweetheart plea deal over tax and gun charges Wednesday, Noreika asked how DOJ could still be investigating him yet at the same time agree to grant him immunity for anything it turns up.
What would be the point of an investigation if he can’t be prosecuted?
The obvious answer: Justice had no plans to probe him further.
Indeed, the perverse wrist-slap it agreed to was meant to bury any past corruption involving Hunter or his dad, President Joe Biden.
Prosecutors hoped to back up Democrats and media stooges who claim it’s “time to move on.”
Noreika wasn’t buying it.
Such immunity, she said, was “unusual” and “non-standard.”
Which is putting it mildly.
The judge is now demanding further filings to restrict the deal to cover Hunter’s past crimes before she will let it go through, rather than provide him blanket immunity from future prosecution (seemingly including over FARA crimes), as Hunter’s legal team agreed to.
Yet for Justice to have ever OK’d something as absurd as that is a clear sign US Attorney David Weiss’ claim that the investigation into Hunter is ongoing is pure political posturing.
Again: How can an investigation be “ongoing” if the deal lets the perp ’scape whipping over anything it might find?
Yet Noreika’s move now creates a huge new problem for Justice and the White House: If Justice is truly still probing Hunter, this leaves open at least the theoretical possibility of uncovering yet more corruption, including, perhaps, by the president.
If not, Justice can no longer refuse questions from congressional probers by claiming its investigation is “ongoing.”
Answering such questions could reveal a DOJ coverup to protect the president and his family.
Meanwhile, the evidence against Hunter and the president himself has been building.
Especially given the bombshell upcoming testimony from Hunter biz associate Devon Archer that Joe was armpit-deep in Hunter’s shady dealings.
And the dire allegations that Ukrainian energy magnate Mykola Zlochevsky paid “big guy” Joe Biden a $5 million bribe while Joe was VP.
Biden’s henchmen at Justice have been diligent in trying to hide the bodies so far, so there’s no reason to expect that to change.
Yet we already know Hunter used his dad’s name and clout to open doors for massive paydays, shared those paydays with his family, dodged taxes and likely broke laws around registering as a foreign agent.
Heck, he smoked crack while speeding on a Las Vegas highway.
Took photos with hookers.
Sold his art to rich Dems who got special favors from his dad.
An ordinary mortal would already be in prison.
Hunter isn’t, because his father is president.
Now, Judge Noreika has thrown a wrench in the Biden family’s getaway plan.
That’s at least one victory for the rule of law, and the nation.
And if Attorney General Merrick Garland really wants to show that DOJ isn’t politicized and Joe Biden isn’t interfering, he’ll appoint a special counsel to examine the entire Hunter case.
