The death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar shines a light on Israel’s courage and Joe Biden’s lack of bravery
Israel has achieved a significant victory: Yahya Sinwar has been killed.
Sinwar was responsible for the war crimes and terrorist acts on Oct. 7, before moving up to lead Hamas after Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination.
His tenure did not last three months; may his successor have an even shorter term.
Sinwar was a ruthless and genocidal figure, a loyal follower of Iran’s imperialist agenda and accountable for the tragic deaths of many Palestinians.
Despite having the ability to end the war by releasing the hostages, including women, children, and the elderly, he chose not to, hiding in Hamas strongholds while the people he claimed to fight for suffered and perished.
The IDF defied great odds to locate and eliminate him, facing unfounded international condemnation for their humane and justified retaliation.
The courageous men and women of the IDF deserve recognition for their valor in pursuing and eliminating this tyrant, bringing some justice to his victims in Israel and among the Palestinians.
Their persistence and success indicate that the United States should abandon its feeble stance in the conflict, which involves intervening to restrain Israel whenever it achieves a notable victory.
Repeatedly, Hamas has shown a willingness to negotiate only under military pressure; when Israel eases off, the group becomes uncooperative.
With the demise of its malevolent mastermind, the timing is ideal.
It is an opportune moment for President Biden to affirm his staunch support for Israel and collaborate with Jerusalem to dismantle Hamas, compelling the group to come to the table prepared to return the hostages, disarm, and vacate Gaza permanently.
This process should start with the public surrender and extradition of Khaled Meshal, likely to be Hamas’ next leader and currently residing in the US ally, Qatar, as suggested by regional expert Jonathan Schanzer.
Every effort must be made to facilitate this.
Throughout his tenure, President Biden has displayed a lack of moral leadership on the global stage, with disastrous consequences that will stain his legacy.
Now he faces a chance for redemption, likely his final one.
We hope he has the fortitude to ignore the voices of Iran’s supporters and antisemites and seize this opportunity.
