The New York Times is the REAL trans extremist

The New York Times has found the real cause of the US culture war around trans issues: social conservatives “defeated on same-sex marriage” who “went searching for an issue that would re-energize supporters and donors.”

That’s the claim of Jeremy Peters and Adam Nagourney’s front-page “news” story that barely even pretends to prove its absurd thesis.

Look! The Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian legal advocacy organization, in 2019 “took on a case” backing a group of female high-school athletes fighting Connecticut’s insane policy of letting biological males play against them.

Oooh, how sinister! They “took on a case”!

But why was there a case to begin with? Well, teen girls had to sue their state to not be forced to compete against larger, stronger boys in sports — because the cultural left had imposed a lunatic policy.

The Times dog-whistles about an “organic and deliberate” “campaign” to introduce common-sense legislation on these issues — admitting that the grassroots response to this madness was entirely spontaneous, while arguing it was somehow also created by professional troublemakers.

It brings in a professional lefty expert to wave off the blowback against schools secretly transitioning students as something that wouldn’t happen without outsiders presenting it with “that parents’ rights frame.”

All to conceal the fact that the only group “searching” for an issue here was and is the far left.

There wouldn’t be any need for such legislation or advocacy without schools and local governments giving in to the wacko demands of the actual extremists.

Like the demand that biologically male athletes such as Lia Thomas get to compete against biological women, when 63% of Americans think athletes should compete against people who share their birth gender.

Or the demand that little kids be taught about gender identity starting as early as kindergarten, when 78% of Americans say no.

Or OK’ing gender reassignment surgery as part of pediatric gender transition (in some cases without parental knowledge or consent): 61% of Americans think such surgeries should be banned, even with parental consent.

The only culture war here is being waged by the left.

The effort to keep girls’ teams for girls, gender radicalism out of kindergartens and life-altering medical treatments away from confused pre-teens is justified pushback.

Not extremism.

Not fishing for donors.

And the left has been amping up this fight since at least the early 2000s across social, political and media institutions, including the Times.

The paper’s latest smear job is just a piece of that larger push.

And it’s as dishonest as it is dangerous.
