The Post supports George Latimer in the NY-16 race over Jamaal Bowman
As early voting starts Saturday in New York’s primaries, the most crucial race is the Democratic contest in the Bronx-Westchester 16th Congressional District. The Post endorses County Executive George Latimer over two-term Rep. Jamaal Bowman.
Latimer is an experienced public servant, a mainstream New York Democrat who pledges to collaborate across party lines and prioritize issues like affordable housing, job creation for the middle and working classes, and climate change.
Rep. Bowman is fixated on race and is known for endorsing YouTube conspiracy theories and spreading misinformation about 9/11. Despite denying Hamas’ violent actions against Israeli women, Bowman has not made any valuable contributions to the district.
Additionally, Bowman has been dishonest about his actions, such as falsely pulling a fire alarm to disrupt a House vote. He has also misled his constituents about his support for Israel and his ties to the Democratic Socialists of America.
It is evident that Latimer, in contrast, values Israel’s security and defends its right to exist within safe boundaries.
New Yorkers deserve a truthful, non-antisemitic representative in Congress. This is why George Latimer is the clear choice for Democrats in the 16th District.
