The Reason a Democrat Chose Donald Trump as President
As a pro-choice, anti-gun, supporter of gay marriage, I am a Democrat. Surprisingly, I am voting for Donald Trump for president because I believe it is the only way to save the country I love.
I understand that my decision will lead to backlash, shunning, and ridicule. I may create chaos at family gatherings, lose reservations at popular restaurants, and lose Facebook friends. But after acknowledging the flaws of the Republican ex-president, I have come to the conclusion that having Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in office would be more concerning.
In a recent interview with CNN, Harris contradicted her core values on issues like the environment, the border, healthcare, and inflation to appeal to middle-American voters. She also showed inconsistency in her stance on Israel.
Her performance revealed a win-at-all-costs mentality that made me question her integrity and beliefs. With her running mate, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, by her side, Harris avoided addressing her poor record in handling border control and supporting decriminalization of various offenses, while now trying to appear as a law-and-order candidate.
We sought truthful answers from Harris, but instead got evasive responses filled with contradictions. From fracking to her stance on Israel, Harris failed to provide clear, honest answers.
On the other hand, Trump has shown a moderate approach to social issues that I strongly believe should not be government-interfered. He has expressed support for same-sex marriage, and has left decisions on abortion limits to state governments, while also supporting in-vitro fertilization treatments.
Trump is a strong supporter of Israel and has promised to address issues like secure borders, reducing crime, and combating inflation. While Harris remains indecisive, I believe we have a better chance at solving these problems with Donald Trump as president.
