With Donald Trump Returning to the White House, We Finally Have a President Who Follows Through on His Promises
The classic Washington advice instructing Americans to observe a president’s actions rather than his words is in dire need of a revision.
Donald Trump plans to say and do exactly the same things.
This was the essence of his unconventional inauguration speech.
Having previously occupied the Oval Office, Trump dedicated the past four years to contemplating his next moves.
The outcome is that his 30-minute address wasn’t filled with grandiose rhetoric lacking substance; rather, it represents a concrete action plan.
Trump’s address serves as his strategic blueprint.
In essence, his message boils down to: “I’ve told you repeatedly what I plan to do, so let’s get started right now.”
While some analysts compared his outlined plans to a typical State of the Union address, I view it as significantly more concrete than merely aspirational.
Trump is serious when he proclaims that “From this moment on, America’s decline is over.”
And that “We will act with determination and urgency to restore hope, prosperity, safety, and peace for all citizens, regardless of race, religion, color, or creed. For American citizens, January 20, 2025, marks Liberation Day.”
These are encouraging statements, and he quickly began to back them up by spending much of the day signing numerous executive orders and actions aimed at transforming promises into reality.
Pushing Back
Addressing border security is rightfully at the forefront, which he has aptly identified as an emergency given that Joe Biden opened the floodgates to over 10 million unvetted arrivals.
The rule of law has been disregarded, and the immigration system has been rendered ineffective; all one had to do to gain entry to the U.S. was cross the border and provide their name to patrol agents.
Just like that — you were in.
Oh, and here’s a bus ticket, a debit card, and a phone.
This simplicity disguises the burdens imposed on taxpayers, both financially and in terms of safety, due to the substantial criminal element that seized upon Biden’s leniency.
It’s also important to note that Trump, now serving as the 47th president, is not the same man he was as the 45th.
Eight years ago, he was a newcomer to Washington, an unexpected victor and an outsider.
Even he seemed taken aback when he realized he had defeated Hillary Clinton.
He subsequently found himself isolated in a city that fiercely defends its territories, with many Republicans, not to mention every Democrat and a majority of the Deep State, aiming to undermine him or at least diminish his movement for the forgotten Americans.
The widespread protests against his election, the “Russia, Russia, Russia” narrative, the first impeachment, the avalanche of lawsuits, and the media hysteria — all were elements of a concerted effort to drive him out.
Even some individuals on his own team worked to thwart him.
He had infiltrated the party, and there was a price to be paid.
The press corps is still grappling with how he dismantled their traditional gatekeeping power.
As Sen. Chuck Schumer cautioned just days before Trump took office, “Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community; they have six ways from Sunday of getting back at you.”
The president was shunned, with even First Lady Melania Trump, a former top model, excluded by a fashion industry eager to celebrate and adorn her predecessors.
Although Trump achieved notable accomplishments both domestically and internationally through sheer determination, he was ultimately overwhelmed as the old regime reclaimed its authority and privileges.
Joe Biden provided them what they desired, and in return, he received what he wanted.
A Changed Man
Trump’s remarkable political comeback has been extensively documented, but something he remarked during his address reveals the essence of his perseverance.
“Just a few months ago, in that beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet tore through my ear. Yet I felt then, and I believe even more now, that my life was spared for a reason.”
“I was chosen by God to make America great again.”
That sentiment ultimately drives him, as he has expressed in various forms since the moment he rose from the stage, his face bloodied, and raised his fist, urging, “fight, fight, fight.”
In the immediate aftermath of his close call, he spoke of his desire to bring the country together and suggested that “success” would play a crucial role in healing the deep divisions.
Now, it’s evident that he has forged an unbreakable determination regarding which policies could foster that success.
If nothing else, Biden’s actions have illuminated the path forward.
The attempts to constrain Trump’s actions via executive orders on ocean drilling and similar initiatives were already problematic, but Biden’s preemptive pardons for his entire family and those involved in the January 6 proceedings are especially egregious.
As a result, Biden has essentially legitimized any and all pardons and commutations Trump decides to issue for January 6 defendants.
To act otherwise is to acquiesce to a two-tier justice system, where the privileged receive leniency while everyone else faces stricter penalties.
Without a doubt, no matter what Trump does, the political landscape looks challenging ahead.
Legal actions against his border policies are already being initiated, and the GOP minority in the House is at an all-time low.
However, the era of a president who passively drifts the country into one catastrophe after another is thankfully behind us.
The nation now has the appropriate president for this moment, and he is dedicated to implementing the right policies.
Godspeed to him.
