Zelensky’s visit to arms factory raises concerns of partisan involvement in foreign elections

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was spotted at what appeared to be a partisan US political event this week.

The White House is being questioned on how this situation was allowed to occur.

Zelensky was brought to battleground Pennsylvania on a USAF C-17 plane and toured the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant with Democratic officials, leaving out any GOP candidates. This raises concerns about a foreign leader being involved in US domestic politics.

Zelensky was accompanied by Secret Service agents and driven in Secret Service vehicles, raising questions about who covered the expenses.

Some in the Biden administration may have orchestrated this move to appeal to Pennsylvania voters of Eastern European descent who may be influenced by Zelensky.

Despite the legal concerns, this situation is damaging for Zelensky as Ukraine requires support from both Republicans and Democrats in Congress.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is urging Zelensky to replace his US ambassador to address this issue and mend relations.

Congress also needs answers regarding the US side of this situation, especially considering President Trump’s impeachment over Ukraine-related abuses.

While it is important to support Ukraine against Russia’s invasion, using a foreign leader’s visit to influence US politics is morally wrong.

Those responsible for this situation, whether in the White House or the State Department, should be held accountable.
