8 People Hurt as Driver Crashes Vehicle Into Southern California Car Dealership

INGLEWOOD, Calif.—On Saturday, a driver drove a vehicle into a CarMax location in the Los Angeles area, injuring eight individuals.

According to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson Jonathan Torres, two of the injured were in critical condition, while the remaining six sustained minor injuries at the dealership in Inglewood.

Social media footage captured the scene after the incident, displaying a damaged SUV maneuvering into the building, with an employee rushing outside. The vehicle rotated in the lobby area and exited through the opposite side of the building.

CarMax reported that the driver was a customer whose vehicle had been evaluated. The driver was subsequently arrested.

“We are thankful for the authorities’ prompt response to this unfortunate event,” stated the company.

The Associated Press attempted to contact the Inglewood Police Department on Saturday evening for more information.

The incident was initially reported as a possible active shooter situation; however, Torres clarified that this was not the case.

Inglewood is situated roughly 10 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.
