British actress Jane Seymour shared that she evacuated her home just moments before flames reached her property as fast-moving wildfires tore through Malibu, California.

At 73 years old, the actress revealed she left with nothing but the clothes on her back and has been staying in different places since the fires began on Monday night.

Upon returning home three days later, she noted that her “whole house smells of smoke.”

While attending the British American Business Council (BABC) annual Christmas luncheon, she recounted, “I literally had jeans and a sweater, which I’ve been wearing for four days and sleeping at various friends’ houses.”

“On Monday night, at 10:50 PM, we received a call from my partner John Zambetti’s son, Johnny, who was at Serra Retreat.

“He noticed a glow behind the curtains, opened the windows, saw 10-foot flames, and urgently told us, ‘Get out. Get out.’

“Thanks to him, we all managed to get out just in time.”

Thousands in the affluent area have had to evacuate, with fellow celebrities like Dick Van Dyke and Cher also fleeing the region.

According to the latest update from the City of Malibu, over 4,000 acres were scorched in the wind-driven wildfire known as the Franklin Fire, resulting in the destruction of 14 buildings and damage to 13 others.

Honored with the BABC LA icon award at the Los Angeles event, Seymour expressed, “This is a tremendous honor. After the chaotic week with fires threatening my home, I could hardly imagine getting dressed, let alone speaking to anyone.”

On the red carpet, she remarked that the flames “didn’t reach the house” because “the fire trucks arrived promptly, and we were saved.”

“My house indeed smells of smoke, but we are just so grateful,” she added.

“The work done by the firefighters is astounding. Looking up the hill from where I live, every home was within an inch of being burned.”

“It is truly incomprehensible that so few structures were lost.”

The two-time Golden Globe-winning actress is widely recognized for her role as a Bond Girl in the 1973 film Live And Let Die, often noting the Bond franchise as “perhaps the most significant British export one can be part of.”

Her iconic performance as Michaela Quinn in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman solidified her status in Hollywood.

Seymour mentioned, “I’m not sure how that works—typically, when you turn 40 as a woman, it’s considered you’re past your prime. However, I got my big break with Dr. Quinn at 40, and it transformed my life—I’ve been incredibly fortunate,” she shared.

She also expressed feeling “incredibly blessed” to continue working into her 70s.
