Actress Olivia Munn shares her breast cancer diagnosis and surgical procedure | Entertainment & Arts Update

Hollywood actress Olivia Munn has disclosed that she underwent surgery and treatment after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis last year.

Sharing the news on social media, the 43-year-old posted photos and videos from her time in the hospital.

The mother-of-one informed her followers: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope that sharing this will provide comfort, inspiration, and support to others on their own journey.”

In a detailed statement, Munn explained her diagnosis and treatment, revealing that she had undergone four surgeries, including a double mastectomy, and had spent numerous days in bed recuperating.

Despite the challenges, she credited the early detection of Luminal B cancer in both breasts, describing it as “an aggressive, fast-moving cancer,” for saving her life.

Munn, who recently attended the Oscars with her partner John Mulaney, shared that she had undergone a genetic test for cancer genes in February 2023, with all results coming back negative.

Despite having a clear mammogram, she was diagnosed with breast cancer two months later.

“I consider myself fortunate,” she stated. “The cancer was caught early enough that I had treatment options. I wish the same for any woman who may face this challenge someday.”

The accomplished actress, known for her work in The Daily Show, The Newsroom, and X-Men: Apocalypse, mentioned that she only shed tears twice since her diagnosis ten months prior.

“I haven’t felt the luxury of time to cry,” she remarked. “My focus has been solely on staying clearheaded and pushing through.”

The actress explained that she had chosen to keep these details private until now to ensure she could focus on recovery before sharing her journey.

She expressed gratitude to her medical team, as well as her friends and family, for supporting her through this challenging period.

Munn also thanked Mulaney for his unwavering support and for placing pictures of their son, Malcolm, where she could see them first thing in the morning.

“To my friends who have battled breast cancer and those who connected me with them, guiding me through my darkest moments, thank you,” she added.

Mulaney, among thousands of well-wishers, responded to her post, saying: “Thank you for fighting the battle to continue being with us. Malc and I love you.”
