Adolescent believed to be planning Taylor Swift concert attack took ‘concrete steps’ to prepare | Entertainment & Arts Updates
Authorities have reported that a teenager suspected of planning a terror attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Austria had taken concrete preparatory actions. Upon searching the suspect’s home, officials also found chemicals and technical devices. The 19-year-old had previously posted an oath of allegiance to the current leader of the Islamic State group on an internet account a few weeks prior.
The main suspect, who is of North Macedonian descent, collaborated closely with a 17-year-old Austrian, according to general director for public security Frankz Ruf in an interview with ORF. Swift was scheduled to perform at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
However, event organiser Barracuda Music announced the cancellation of the three shows on Instagram, citing safety concerns after the confirmation of the planned terrorist attack.
