Airport Worker Accused by Bebe Rexha of ‘Threatening’ and ‘Mentally Abusing’ Her Due to Albanian Heritage
Singer Bebe Rexha has revealed that she was threatened and subjected to “mental abuse” by an airport worker because of her Albanian ethnicity.
In a tearful video posted on Instagram, the 34-year-old expressed her shock at the incident, stating: “I’ve been threatened just because I spoke to the security agent in Albanian to ask for directions to my ticket, and now he’s banning me from the flight.”
It remains unknown whether the US-born star, who has Albanian heritage, was eventually allowed to board the flight from Munich airport.
In her post to her 12 million followers on Saturday, Rexha described the ordeal as a “hate crime” motivated by her background.
Rexha recounted how the male staff member refused to provide his name and engaged in ongoing emotional abuse, while female staff members reportedly did not intervene.
The singer, known for collaborations with artists like Rita Ora and Louis Tomlinson, and her UK number one song with David Guetta, “I’m Good (Blue),” alleged that the man is employed by a company that offers services for Lufthansa.
Responding to the incident, the German airline issued a statement expressing their commitment to understanding the situation and condemning any form of discrimination.
“We have reached out to Bebe Rexha and are actively working to understand the circumstances,” a spokesperson stated.
“As an international airline, we connect people and countries around the globe. Our guests and employees come from all over the world,” the spokesperson added.
“Diversity and equal opportunity are core values for our company and our corporate culture.
“We do not tolerate any discriminatory behavior of any kind.”
