Alabama Man Facing 11 Murder Charges Enters Not Guilty Plea
A man from Alabama facing homicide charges stemming from multiple shootings entered a not guilty plea in state court on Wednesday.
Damien McDaniel, 22, is alleged to have killed 11 individuals in Birmingham, Alabama, from July to September of last year. Additionally, he has been accused of injuring 29 others during this timeframe.
His attorney, John Robbins, stated that he has not “seen a shred of evidence.” He further mentioned that even if he had, he would be prohibited from disclosing any details related to the ongoing case.
“We’re assembling a strong defense team to ensure this process is fair and to uphold his rights,” Robbins told AL.com.
Of the 11 capital murder charges, eight are connected to two shootings that occurred in Birmingham in 2024. One incident happened outside a Birmingham nightclub in July, resulting in four fatalities and 10 injuries. Another suspect, 27-year-old Hatarius Woods, has also been charged with capital murder concerning the July mass shooting.
The second incident occurred outside a different nightclub in Birmingham in September, where four people lost their lives and 17 others sustained injuries. A representative from the Birmingham Police Department remarked that there were “multiple shooters” involved in the September incident, and the investigation remains active.
