Amid Bitter Cold, Everyone Seeks a Glimpse of Trump in Inauguration Line | US News
“No hats! No bags! No drinks, no snacks, no water—everything out of your pockets. Let’s move, let’s move, let’s move!”
Security is stringent at the line’s entrance, evoking a palpable sense of urgency.
It’s frigid outside Washington’s Capital One Arena, and the crowd has been lining up since 3:30 AM. Everyone is eager to enter.
The line twists around the back of the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Library and stretches down the block.
Inauguration Day coincides with MLK Day this year. An outdoor celebration was planned to honor the occasion but was canceled due to the temperatures.

Now it’s 7 AM, and the line begins to shift. A loud cheer erupts from the front.
Despite the biting cold and wind chill, excitement fills the air. Attendees came here for Trump, and the National Mall would have been even chillier. They’re pumped.
“I’ve been paying so much in bills—everything’s going to go down, and my salary will increase,” says Dan French, who’s dressed as Uncle Sam.
Tabitha concurs. “New York, my hometown, is a complete mess,” she states. “Everything is so costly—housing, groceries. Trump will come in and fix it.”

The crowd is a sea of red MAGA hats, American flags, and Trump memorabilia. Street vendors are thriving.
Wearing an extra layer is essential, especially if it features Trump.
Grady from Texas sports a ‘Daddy’s Home’ sweatshirt featuring a large image of Trump. Immigration was his reason for voting for Trump.
“Our borders are a mess. It impacts all our communities. The fentanyl crisis is out of hand,” he states.
When asked how this term will differ from the previous one, Grady replies, “We’re going to achieve a lot more.”
“He understands governance better now and will be able to get started swiftly. He has new strategies and a fresh cabinet of nontraditional professionals.”

What to expect from Trump 2.0?
Trump is anticipated to promise a common-sense revolution in his inaugural address. I ask Grady what he interprets that to mean.
“Cancel culture and woke culture—there are numerous things that don’t make sense in this country, particularly concerning social issues,” he responds.
“We don’t need to complicate matters; the cancel culture is over, and I believe that escaping from that is what he intends.”
And did Biden possess any common sense?
“Oh no,” Dan (a.k.a. Uncle Sam) replies. “Biden lacked any sense whatsoever.”
