Ariana Grande has addressed critics regarding a change in her speaking voice that went viral in an interview clip. She explained that she intentionally shifts her tone to protect her vocals for singing.
The clip was taken from an interview on the Podcrushed podcast with You actor Penn Badgley. In the footage, Grande starts speaking in a deeper voice while discussing recording new music, then transitions to a higher-pitched register.
Captioned “the voice change??”, the clip gained traction on TikTok as fans commented on the change in Grande’s speaking style.
Grande has now commented on the situation, clarifying that she changes her vocal placement intentionally for habit and vocal health reasons. She stated that she adjusts her vocal tone depending on her singing workload.
During the interview, Grande hinted at more new music and expressed her desire to release a deluxe version of her latest album. She discussed her intense writing process and time spent in the studio after the Met Gala.

Grande recently announced a remix of her track “The Boy Is Mine” featuring Brandy and Monica. The singer, known for various hits, has been a chart-topper in the UK with her consecutive albums.
Fans can also look forward to Grande’s return to acting as she stars in the upcoming film adaptation of the stage musical Wicked alongside Cynthia Erivo. The first film is set to release in November.
