Arizona Man Charged with Terrorism for Shooting at DNC Office
Jeffrey Kelly is facing terrorism charges after allegedly shooting at a DNC office in Tempe three times, resulting in property damage but no injuries.
The shootings occurred between Sept. 16 and Oct. 6, according to information from the Tempe Police Department.
Jeffrey Michael Kelly, aged 60, is accused of initially using a CO2-powered gun in the first incident, followed by firearms in subsequent shootings. Over 20 shots were fired at the office during these events, causing damage to the building’s windows, front doors, and walls.
The office had to be closed two days after the third shooting took place.
He is currently held on two $500,000 cash-only bonds, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
All the shootings occurred just after midnight with no one present inside the building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Following the shootings, surveillance footage of a vehicle believed to be linked to the suspect was released by Tempe police, ultimately leading to Kelly’s arrest and indictment.
Authorities have not yet revealed a motive behind the shootings.
Reportedly, Kelly possessed over 200 guns and more than 250,000 rounds of ammunition at his residence, stated the state prosecutor.
Bhatia also remarked that the scale of the weapons cache suggested he “was preparing to commit an act of mass casualty.”
Squires was unavailable for further comments.
The Tempe site is among the 18 field offices in Arizona that coordinate campaign efforts for Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
