Atlanta Hotel Evacuated Due to Carbon Monoxide Leak; Five Hospitalized
ATLANTA—On Friday, a hotel in downtown Atlanta was evacuated due to a suspected carbon monoxide leak that resulted in five individuals being transported to hospitals for evaluation, according to authorities.
Firefighters arrived at the Residence Inn by Marriott on Peachtree Street shortly after 9 a.m.
Authorities reported that three adults and two children were taken to hospitals to be assessed for possible carbon monoxide exposure, as stated by Atlanta Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Greg Gray to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
A gas line has been secured, and the fire department confirmed in a social media update that “the situation is stable.”
The hotel is located within the historic Rhodes-Haverty building, which was the tallest building in Atlanta at 21 stories when it opened in 1929.
