Wow, that was quite an experience!

I had two strategies in mind: first, to smile at Donald Trump and try to get his attention in hopes of being called upon, which actually worked.

Second, I opted for a bright outfit to stand out in the crowd of grey, and that certainly paid off.

The colorful tactic also proved effective for Sir Keir Starmer, who presented a letter from the King inviting Trump for a second state visit.

The US president genuinely appeared thrilled.

His admiration for the Royal Family gave Prime Minister Starmer an opportunity for some clever diplomacy.

Starmer must be pleased with how well things unfolded, especially considering the many tricky topics that could have arisen.

Mr. Trump was charming and did not delve into the contentious Chagos Islands issue, maintaining a positive tone. He refrained from making any controversial remarks.

When discussing tariffs, the president chose to focus his criticisms on the European Union, avoiding heavy discussion regarding tariffs with the UK.

Concerning Ukraine, he expressed optimism about a potential peace deal. When asked about security guarantees, he stated: “We’re going to get the deal, and then we’ll figure out the details.”

When queried about supporting UK troops if necessary, he did not dismiss the idea outright.

Overall, it was a successful outing for Starmer, and the atmosphere was positive.

However, what a contrast—Trump’s style is so fluid. I’ve never witnessed a president answer so many questions from journalists in the Oval Office.

Previously, with President Biden, interactions were structured and only select individuals could ask questions.

In this case, the atmosphere was much more dynamic. It was indeed an intense session.
