Beyonce and Taylor Swift Rewrite Grammys History with Record-Breaking Nominations, Entertainment & Arts News Reports

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have made history at the Grammy Awards with the announcement of this year’s nominations.

Beyoncé leads with 11 nominations, making her the most nominated artist in the history of the show.

Her success as the most nominated artist comes after her country album, Cowboy Carter, was largely overlooked at this year’s County Music Association Awards.

Meanwhile, Swift’s seventh nomination in the album category for The Tortured Poets Department surpasses Barbra Streisand, who previously tied with the Shake It Off star with six nominations.

Swift won the category last year with Midnights.

Following Beyoncé in the lead for nominations, Charli XCX – whose trendsetting album Brat saw the moniker become word of the year – has seven nods, as does Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone.

The annual ceremony – which is music’s biggest night and gives out over 90 awards in total – has four main categories: album, record, and song of the year, and best new artist.

Nominations were announced by past Grammy winners including Kylie Minogue, Mark Ronson, and last year’s best new artist recipient, Victoria Monet.

The annual music awards – which gives out over 90 awards in total – has four major categories: album, record, and song of the year, and best new artist.

The Recording Academy has made adjustments to those categories this year, reducing the number of potential nominees from 10 to eight.

It has also updated some of its rules to keep up with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in music and introduced three new categories: best African music performance, best pop dance recording, and best alternative jazz album.

The eligibility period for work ran from September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024.

Women dominated last year’s awards, with Taylor Swift winning album of the year, Billie Eilish winning song of the year, and Miley Cyrus taking home record of the year.

The 67th Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
