Beyonce is set to be featured in the upcoming edition of the renowned French dictionary Le Petit Larousse.
Joining other notable figures such as Cate Blanchett, Omar Sy, Christopher Nolan, and Antoine Dupont, the American popstar will be highlighted in the 120th edition of the dictionary.
This year, over 150 new words have been added to the dictionary, many of which address current concerns, developments, and impactful movements, according to Carine Girac-Marinier, the director of the dictionaries and encyclopedias department.
Beyonce achieved significant milestones this year with her hit single “Texas Hold ‘Em” and album “Cowboy Carter.”
She made history by becoming the first black woman to top the US country chart with “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Additionally, she accomplished her second double at the top of the UK charts with both the single and album reaching number one.

This isn’t the first time Beyonce has had an impact on dictionaries. In 2004, the term “bootylicious” – popularized by Destiny’s Child’s hit song of the same name, co-written by Beyonce – was added to the Oxford English Dictionary.
Reportedly, Beyonce expressed some hesitation about the word, telling TV Hits magazine: “I wrote the song, but I wish there was another word I could have come up with if I was going to have a word in the dictionary.”
Other new entries in the dictionary include the English term “fast fashion,” the French word “platisme” referring to the Flat Earth theory, and “trottinettiste,” which describes a person who rides a scooter, or “trottinette.”
The Cambridge Dictionary announced “hallucinate” as the word of the year for 2023 due to its new, AI-related meaning involving the production of false information.
