Biden Admin Said to Know of Nord Stream Attack Plan

Three months before the Sept. 26, 2022, bombing of the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline, the Biden administration reportedly learned that the Ukrainian military had planned a covert attack on the network.

The plan involved using a small team of divers who reported to the commander in chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, according to a Washington Post report.

Previously unreported details were collected by a European intelligence service and shared with the CIA in June 2022 — laying out evidence linking the Ukraine government to an attack U.S. and Western officials had condemned as a dangerous act of sabotage on Europe’s energy infrastructure, the Washington Post reported.

The CIA then shared the report with Germany and other European countries the same month, the outlet reported.

The European intelligence from someone in Ukraine was shared on the chat platform Discord, allegedly by Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira, the Post reported, adding that it got a copy from an online pal of Teixeira.

Ukrainian officials have previously denied the nation’s involvement in the Nord Stream attack. Neither that government, the White House, or the CIA commented about the new data.

After the three underwater explosions caused massive leaks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines — leaving only one of the four gas links in the network intact — some Biden administration officials suggested Russia was to blame.

According to the Washington Post, Biden administration officials now privately concede there’s no evidence to conclusively point to Russia’s involvement — and European officials in several countries have quietly suggested Ukraine was behind the attack.

The European intelligence made clear the attackers were not rogue operatives, and reported directly to Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the country’s highest-ranking military officer, who was put in charge so Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wouldn’t know about the operation — giving him a way to deny involvement, the Washington Post reported.
