Biden Writes Farewell Letter to the American People
“History is in your hands. The power is in your hands,” Biden stated, encouraging Americans to maintain their faith.

WASHINGTON—As his presidency nears its conclusion, Joe Biden has written a farewell letter to the American public, sharing his thoughts on his four years in office and his long-standing commitment to public service.
“Serving this nation for over 50 years has been the greatest privilege of my life,” Biden expressed, marking the culmination of a political journey that took him from Scranton to the Oval Office.
“There is no place on Earth where a child with a stutter from humble beginnings in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Claymont, Delaware, could one day occupy the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office as President of the United States,” Biden reflected. “I have dedicated my heart and soul to our nation. In return, I have been incredibly blessed by the love and support of the American people.”
Biden has also announced that he will deliver a farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office on Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET.

In advance of Biden’s farewell address, the White House has published a fact sheet summarizing the Biden-Harris administration’s achievements, highlighting numerous initiatives that began with efforts against the pandemic.
“Four years ago, we found ourselves in a winter filled with peril and possibility,” Biden recounted in his letter.
“We faced the worst pandemic in a century, the most significant economic crisis since the Great Depression, and the direst attack on our democracy since the Civil War,” he noted, in reference to the January 6 Capitol uprising.
“However, we united as Americans and persevered. We emerged stronger, more prosperous, and more secure.”
Biden shared that he decided to run for presidency four years ago because he felt “the soul of America was at stake.”
“The essence of who we are was in jeopardy. And that concern still holds true,” he asserted. “America is an idea mightier than any army and grander than any ocean. It represents the most powerful idea in the chronicles of the world.”
In his letter, Biden outlined major achievements, offering a glimpse into his forthcoming farewell address.
“Today, we possess the strongest economy globally and have added a record 16.6 million new jobs. Wages are rising, and inflation is on the decline,” he wrote.
“Manufacturing is returning to America. We are once again at the forefront of global science and innovation, particularly in the semiconductor sector.”
Biden also pointed out advancements in reducing prescription drug prices for seniors, broadening health insurance coverage, and progress in renewable energy and gun safety initiatives.
“History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The vision of America is in your hands,” Biden concluded his letter.
“We only need to maintain our faith and remember our identity. We are the United States of America, and there is absolutely nothing beyond our potential when we work together.”
Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are set to attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
The outgoing president has signified that he plans to remain involved in domestic policy discussions after leaving the office.
“I won’t be out of sight or out of mind,” he humorously remarked to reporters on Jan. 10.
