Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and Sir Rod Stewart are among the stars scheduled to perform at a charity concert aimed at generating funds for wildfire relief in the Los Angeles region.
The charity event, dubbed FireAid, is set to occur simultaneously across two venues on January 30, featuring numerous artists with connections to California, which is still grappling with intense and devastating wildfires.
Other notable acts include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joni Mitchell, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Stevie Nicks, Earth, Wind & Fire, Pink, Sting, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Stephen Stills, Dave Matthews & John Mayer, and Tate McRae.
Performances will take place at the Intuit Dome, home of the LA Clippers, and at the Kia Forum, both located in the Inglewood area of the city.
The fires in Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and Pasadena have resulted in at least 27 fatalities and displaced tens of thousands since their onset on January 8.
As of Friday, firefighters were still working to control nearly 40,000 acres impacted by ongoing wildfires. According to NBC, the largest of the fires, the Palisades fire, is currently 27% contained, while the Eaton fire is 55% contained.
Los Angeles’ fire chief, Kristin Crowley, has labeled this disaster as one of the most severe natural catastrophes in the city’s history.
Millions have already been donated to assist those who lost their homes, including $2.5 million from singer Beyonce and $15 million from The Walt Disney Company.
All funds raised from FireAid will be allocated to immediate relief efforts and long-term strategies aimed at preventing future wildfire disasters in Southern California.
All contributions will be managed by the Annenberg Foundation, as stated on the FireAid website.
