Black Bear Escapes Enclosure, Leads to Temporary Closure of Florida Theme Park – Disney World | US News

Parts of Disney World in Florida have been compelled to shut down due to the presence of a black bear.

The bear was spotted in a tree on Monday, leading to the closure of several attractions in the Magic Kingdom at the Orlando resort.

The bear is believed to be searching for food in preparation for the winter hibernation season.

Walt Disney World confirmed that staff from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are on site, working towards capturing the bear.

According to Sky News’ US partner, NBC News, the FWC stated, “In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given the situation, staff are working on capturing and relocating the bear.”

The temporary closure of attractions, such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Hall of Presidents, Liberty Square Riverboat, A Pirate’s Adventure, Tom Sawyer Island, and Walt Disney World Railroad (including Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Main Street), was a result of the wild bear sighting.

Visitors to the theme park experienced long queues as a consequence of this incident.
