Bondi Reports Arrest of MS-13 Gang Members Among Illegal Immigrants in Florida
The announcement follows the apprehension and arrest of a high-ranking MS-13 leader in Virginia last week.
In Florida, a trio of suspected MS-13 gang members, who are unlawfully present in the country, have been taken into custody in connection with a murder committed nearly ten years ago.
The victim was reportedly associated with a rival gang when he met his end. Bondi stated at the press conference that he was stabbed around 100 times by multiple gang members before ultimately being shot in the head.
The suspects have been identified as Jose Ezequiel Gamez-Maravilla, Hugo Adiel Bermudez-Martinez, and Wilber Rosendo Navarro-Escobar.
As stated by the Department of Justice, MS-13 is a violent transnational gang mainly composed of immigrants or their descendants from El Salvador, operating across various regions of the United States. Former President Donald Trump classified MS-13 as a foreign terrorist organization, which grants federal organizations enhanced capabilities to pursue and prosecute its members.
“These gangs are organized, they are terrorists,” Bondi stressed. “And look at these three individuals. They believed they had escaped justice for nearly a decade, but they were mistaken.
This cooperation involved local and federal entities, including the FBI, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
“In Broward County, justice is timeless,” Sheriff Gregory Tony stated during the press conference. “The timing of the crime or your origin doesn’t matter. If you come into this community and choose to take a life, we will utilize every resource to ensure you face justice.”
The attorney general cautioned that additional arrests are anticipated.
