Brother of New Orleans Attack Victim Martin ‘Tiger’ Bech Shares Their Final Conversations | US News
The brother of a victim from the New Orleans incident has shared the final words exchanged between them.
“The last thing we said to each other was that he loved me,” Jack Bech recounted about his brother Martin “Tiger” Bech, 27, during an interview with Sky News’s US correspondent James Matthews.
“I replied that I loved him, he said he loved me even more, then we hung up, and that was the last conversation I ever had with him.”
The brothers spoke just hours before Tiger was tragically killed, one of 14 victims in the attack on Bourbon Street, where a pickup truck drove into revelers celebrating the New Year.

Jack stated that he and his family are determined to ensure “everyone remembers” his brother.
“His legacy will carry on forever, and my family and I will make sure his name is known,” he affirmed.
“Yesterday was the toughest day of my life, and each day will be challenging as I come to terms with never being able to speak to him again,” Jack expressed.
Tiger was discovered by his family in the hospital, unconscious but still alive, a time Jal said was invaluable for them.
“Though he couldn’t respond, I genuinely believe he could hear us, his eyes were shut,” he explained.
“God kept his heart beating for a reason, I feel, so our family could say farewell,” he added.
The time spent together during Christmas was the best they’ve ever had as a family, according to Jack.
“He connected with all his friends when he was home and made time for everyone, seeing so many people he hadn’t met in years,” he shared.
Jack expressed his belief that everything occurs for a reason.
On the night before Tiger’s passing, Jack mentioned that his brother “expressed his faith and love for God.”
“That was something none of us had heard in a long time—years, in fact,” he remarked.
Jack proudly stated that Tiger “led a wonderful life,” emphasizing, “He lived 80 years in just 27.”
