Candidates Deliver Last-Minute Appeals in Crucial Swing States Ahead of Election Day

When voters head to the polls on Nov. 5, they will be deciding on more than just one presidential candidate and a few other federal office contenders. Their choices will have an impact on numerous powerful officials who may not be on the ballot but still have the ability to shape the nation’s future.

Following the presidential inauguration in January, either Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump will hold the power to nominate these officials, who could potentially rule against the policies they wish to enact.

The federal courts play a crucial role in determining whether the policies supported by voters can be put into practice, as outlined in Article III of the Constitution.

Lower Courts

There are 94 district or trial courts and over 670 seats for district court judges in the country, as stated by the Justice Department. These are followed by 13 appeals courts, which are divided into 12 federal circuits covering specific regions and the specialized 13th Federal Circuit Court.
