Car and Bus Collision in Central Washington Results in 4 Fatalities and 7 Injuries

VOLTAGE, Wash.—A tragic incident occurred on a two-lane highway in central Washington state, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to seven others. The crash happened when a driver attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with a charter bus.

The accident took place on Sunday afternoon as a Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Highway 28, east of Wenatchee, when it struck an oncoming Northwestern Stage Lines charter bus, as reported by The Seattle Times.

The bus, operated by a 66-year-old man from Spokane, was involved in the crash along with two 17-year-olds – a female driver and a male passenger – both from East Wenatchee. The Washington State Patrol confirmed that all three died, along with another bus passenger who later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Troopers stated that seven other individuals, aged between 24 and 71, sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

Additionally, the Camry collided with another vehicle it was attempting to pass, but fortunately, no one in that car was injured, according to the state patrol.

Jacob Price, the owner of the Spokane-based bus company, mentioned that the crash occurred during a scheduled route between Seattle and Spokane, with around 20 passengers aboard the bus.

Price noted that the accident was precipitated by a driver attempting to pass at an “excessive speed.” The bus company is currently collaborating with state troopers and the Washington Department of Transportation to investigate further.
