Celebrating 150 Years: The Lincoln Dinner of the Queens Village Republican Club
The Queens Village Republican Club marked its 150th anniversary on March 2 during the annual Lincoln Dinner, where patriotic Americans were honored with awards and enjoyed speeches from notable figures, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
As the oldest continuously active Republican club in the United States, the Queens Village Republican Club has been organizing a Lincoln Dinner every year since 1996. This event is a longstanding tradition among Republican organizations, serving as a fundraising dinner close to President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday on February 12. Occasionally referred to as the Reagan Dinner or Lincoln-Reagan Dinner, this gathering parallels a Democratic counterpart known as the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
Over the years, the Queens Village Republican Club has welcomed various prominent speakers at its dinner, such as Steve Bannon and WalkAway Campaign founder Brandon Straka; this year, it was Giuliani’s turn.
The gathering took place at the recently renovated historic Antun’s of Queens Village, a venue that has hosted presidents, governors, and mayors since the 1950s. The celebration included a cocktail hour, a sit-down dinner, drinks, and dessert, complemented by speeches, live music, and dancing.
