Coachella: Who are the stars playing the legendary desert festival? | Ents & Arts News

Blackpink will make history later this year as the first K-pop group to headline the world-famous Coachella festival.

The four-piece Korean girl group, best known for hits such as How You Like That and As If It’s Your Last, will close both Saturday nights in April, while Frank Ocean will headline the main stage on the Sunday events.

Also headlining is Bad Bunny – the Puerto Rican rapper who has been the most listened-to artist on streaming platform Spotify for the last two years running. He will perform on the Friday events.

Ocean, who has won Grammy and Brit awards, was due to perform in 2020, but the event was ultimately cancelled after rescheduling several times due to the COVID-19 regulations.

Elsewhere on the line-up is Bjork, who will perform on the Sundays, while Rosalia, the Spanish singer whose tracks often go viral on TikTok, will join the Friday line-up.

It’s a good year for British acts too, with Calvin Harris, Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz, Yungblud, and Mercury-nominated Wet Leg also performing.

Idris Elba will appear, as does electropop sensation Charli XCX and rock legends Blondie.

Fans can begin securing presale tickets on Friday, with organisers warning there are already “very limited” numbers of tickets remaining for the first weekend, and to consider attending the second wave of the event.

Last year’s headliners included Harry Styles and Billie Eilish, while The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia covered for Ye (formerly Kanye West) who dropped out of the festival just a week before it began.

Coachella takes place in the southern California desert, and runs for two consecutive weekends in April, drawing around 250,000 people.
