Convicted Murderer Flee’s From Central California Courthouse
State prison authorities are currently on the hunt for a 34-year-old man who was sentenced to 25 years for first-degree murder.
According to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California prison officials are actively searching for a convicted murderer who escaped on December 2 after appearing at the Kern County Superior Courthouse in Delano.
At around 10:45 a.m. on Monday, while officers were transporting Cesar Hernandez for a court appearance, he managed to leap from the transport van and flee from the site, which is approximately 150 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, as reported by the department.
In response to the escape, agents from the corrections department’s special services unit, along with teams from North Kern, Kern Valley, and Wasco state prisons, were deployed.
The California Highway Patrol, along with police departments from Delano and McFarland, are assisting in the ongoing search.
Hernandez, who is 34 years old, stands at 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 161 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair, and was last spotted wearing an orange top and orange pants.
This inmate was transferred to the Kern County facility from Los Angeles County on June 27, 2019. He was sentenced to 25 years to life with the possibility of parole for first-degree murder.
