Court Rules Google Breached Antitrust Laws in Ad Tech Operations

A federal judge has determined that Google has breached antitrust law regarding its advertising technology, signifying yet another significant setback for the company and paving the way for potentially substantial modifications to its operations.
According to U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema, Google infringed upon the Sherman Antitrust Act by “willfully acquiring and retaining monopoly power” in specific advertising markets while “unlawfully” integrating two of its products, as stated in a 115-page opinion issued on April 17.
The decision arrives as Google approaches significant potential remedies in a separate antitrust case in Washington, where U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta determined last year that the tech powerhouse had violated antitrust regulations in its search operations.
