David Schwimmer Calls on Elon Musk to Ban Kanye West from X Over ‘Hate-Filled, Ignorant’ Remarks | Entertainment & Arts News
David Schwimmer, known for his role in Friends, has urged X owner Elon Musk to take action against Kanye West and remove him from the platform.
This call to action follows a series of troubling posts made by the US rapper, also referred to as Ye, where he made offensive statements, particularly concerning the Jewish community.
Many of West’s recent posts on X centered around anti-Semitic remarks, with some of the most shocking including: “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi”.
Another tweet declared: “I’m never apologizing for my Jewish comments.”
On Saturday, Schwimmer, who is Jewish, called on Mr. Musk to take down West from X due to his “hate-filled, ignorant bile”.
He expressed on his Instagram: “This is so 2022.”
“While we can’t stop a deranged bigot from promoting hate-filled, ignorant bile, we CAN cut off his microphone, Mr. Musk.”
“Kanye West commands an audience of 32.7 million on your platform, X. That’s twice the number of Jews in the world.”
“His disturbing hate speech incites REAL-LIFE violence against Jews.”
“What concerns me more is whether he identifies as a Nazi (which suggests he seeks to annihilate ALL marginalized communities, including his own) or the fact that there’s a lack of sufficient OUTRAGE to ban him from social media by now.”
“Silence is complicity,” he concluded.
Shortly after, West continued to post more offensive remarks regarding Jewish individuals.
The Campaign Against Antisemitism has also urged Mr. Musk to remove West from X.
Grammys controversy
Last week, West and his wife, Bianca Censori, made headlines at the Grammy Awards, where Censori donned a seemingly sheer dress while West stood beside her.

West has faced account suspensions on X at least twice already.
His account was suspended in December 2022 following antisemitic comments and praise for Hitler.
During that incident, Mr. Musk indicated the account would be suspended after West shared an image that seemed to display a swastika within a Star of David.
Mr. Musk stated the suspension was “for incitement to violence.” The account was reinstated in July 2023.
In October 2022, West’s account faced restrictions due to antisemitic remarks, but he returned to the platform the next month. His controversial statements during that period also prompted Adidas to sever ties with him.
