DHS Secretary Noem’s $3,000 Purse Stolen at Restaurant, Spokesperson Reports
A spokesperson for the DHS stated that “Noem was using the cash withdrawal to treat her family to dinner, activities, and Easter gifts.”
On April 20, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had her purse, which contained her driver’s license, $3,000 in cash, and several other items, stolen from a restaurant in Washington, as confirmed by an agency spokesperson.
“Her whole family was visiting, which included her children and grandchildren—she withdrew the cash to treat them to dinner, various activities, and Easter gifts,” the spokesperson informed The Epoch Times on April 21.
No further details were shared regarding the incident, such as whether any suspects have been identified.
The Epoch Times reached out to the Secret Service, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, for comments. On April 21, a spokesperson for the agency indicated that they are still in the process of gathering information about the theft.
No other officials from the Trump administration, including the president, have commented on the situation.

“As the capital city of the greatest nation in history, it should exhibit beautiful, clean, and safe public spaces,” he stated in a release, emphasizing that America’s capital must be a place where residents, commuters, and tourists feel secure at all hours, even on public transport.
In February, Trump proposed that the federal government take control of the nation’s capital due to rising homelessness and crime rates in the district.
“I believe we should take over Washington, D.C.—make it safe,” he declared to reporters aboard Air Force One in February.
While Trump remarked that he personally likes Bowser, he expressed criticisms regarding the governance of the city.
“They’re not doing the job,” he stated. “Too much crime, too much—too many tents on the lawns—these magnificent lawns.”
