Discontent Among MAGA Supporters: Trump-Appointed Supreme Court Justice Faces Backlash | US News

Supporters of Donald Trump have begun to criticize one of the Supreme Court justices he appointed, expressing dissatisfaction with her perceived lack of loyalty to the former president.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett, a staunch conservative, was nominated to the Supreme Court by Mr Trump in 2020 and has participated in important rulings, including the overturning of abortion rights.

Nonetheless, this has not sufficed to appease certain members of the MAGA community. Right-wing commentators have expressed outrage following a few recent 5-4 decisions in which Barrett was the pivotal vote against Trump’s agenda.

Justice Barrett was part of the justices who dismissed the Trump administration’s bid to evade payments to federal contractors linked to cuts in the U.S. foreign aid program.

“She is a rattled law professor with her head up her a**,” remarked Mike Davis, who previously served for another Supreme Court justice, labeling Barrett as “weak and timid.”

“DEI judge,” influencer Jack Posobiec lamented on X, implying that she was a “diversity, equity and inclusion” appointment—likely due to her gender.

Critics have targeted Barrett despite her consistent support for conservative rulings, including those that ended the Roe v. Wade abortion rights and expanded gun rights.

According to Anthony Kreis, a professor at Georgia State University College of Law, “There seems to be an expectation that personal loyalty to Donald Trump is a prerequisite for any sitting Supreme Court justice.”

He added, “This expectation overrides how conservative they may actually be.”

Justice Barrett has previously discussed how her Supreme Court appointment—and the accompanying security concerns—has impacted her and her family.
