DOJ Suggests No Jail Time for Trans Catholic Church Vandal

A man who identifies as a woman vandalized a Catholic church in Washington, and the Justice Department is recommending against jail time.

Maeve Nota, 31, admitted to vandalizing the St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington, spray-painting hate speech — including “F*** Catholics” and “rot in your fake hell” — destroying a Virgin Mary statue, smashing two doors, assaulting a church staffer, and resisting arrest, National Review reported.

Nota was charged with a hate crime, including misdemeanor destruction of religious property. That latter charge is punishable to up to one year in prison and up to $100,000 in fines.

But the DOJ is reportedly recommending just three years’ probation for the June 2 sentencing.

There has been an uptick of attacks on churches under the Biden administration, particularly Catholic ones, Tommy Valentine of the Catholic Accountability Project told National Review.

Valentine added the attacks have forced Catholic churches to bolster security amid the threats of violence and vandalism.

This report comes as House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has subpoenaed FBI Director Christopher Wray for reportedly infiltrating Catholic churches to place informants and spies on Catholic Americans.

Also, GOP senators and House members are now asking the Pentagon why it terminated its pastoral care contract at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Jordan’s weaponization committee in the GOP-held House seeks to investigate and conduct oversight over the Biden administration’s seeking to brand conservatives, parents concerned about liberal indoctrination in schools, and religious Americans as “domestic terrorists.”

While the supposed pretext for the Biden administration concerns is Jan. 6 aftermath, conservatives note violence in the Black Lives Matter and antifa riots after George Floyd’s death had received disparate treatment by left-wing prosecutors.
