Donald Trump Recognized as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year | US News
Donald Trump has been designated as Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
The president-elect of the United States triumphed over the Princess of Wales and Elon Musk, both of whom were included in the shortlist.
Mr. Trump, who has withstood two assassination attempts in recent months, plans to celebrate by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange later today.
Following his victory in the popular vote in last month’s election and securing all seven swing states, he has started appointing members to his upcoming administration.
The 78-year-old business tycoon was also named Time’s Person of the Year in 2016, the year he first won the presidency.
Time remarked that his second election victory is “history-making in multiple ways.”
Mr. Trump will become the “oldest president in US history,” taking office for the second time at the age of 78 years and seven months. For comparison, Joe Biden began his presidency at 78 years and two months old in 2021.
Additionally, Mr. Trump will be the “first convicted felon to be elected president,” as referenced by Time due to his conviction for falsifying business records related to election fraud.
The Princess of Wales, who has been receiving cancer treatment, has “sparked a discussion about privacy and health for public personalities,” according to Time.
Kate has resumed her public duties, which include attending her annual Christmas carol service with her family at Westminster Abbey.

He has also become politically engaged, backing Mr. Trump in his efforts to return to the White House, investing over a quarter of a billion dollars in the process.
Others featured in the shortlist included Yulia Navalnaya, whose husband, the Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, passed away in February.
Also included in Time’s 10-person shortlist were Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, podcaster Joe Rogan, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
